Tom Alden - Owner

As a former Royal Marine, Tom has experienced many operational tours around the world including Afghanistan, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Norway, Kuwait and Iraq.

Following his resignation from the Marines in 2004, Tom fulfilled his passion for diving by traveling around South-East Asia, and spent time climbing in the Himalayas. On his return to the UK in 2008, Tom saw an opportunity to use the skills he had acquired from his time in the Marines, his knowledge of the benefits of exercising outdoors and his diploma in Personal Training & Nutrition to form TLA Fitness and now dedicates his time to helping individuals and teams achieve their personal training goals in preparation for small events, large expeditions and everything in between.

In 2013, Tom expanded the TLA brand by opening the TLA Studio in Sunningwell, offering a variety of indoor classes such as kettlebells, yoga, pilates, spin, boxing and TRX suspension training.

Tom practises what he preaches and has his own goals that he commits to some of which include; rowing 3000NM across the Atlantic Ocean, running 157 miles across the Sahara Desert in the Marathon des Sables and will soon be taking on the worlds coldest and toughest ultra – the Yukon Artic Ultra in February 2018!
With more classes being added monthly and an ever-growing team of instructors, the sky really is the limit for TLA Fitness!

TLA Fitness, a unique Outdoor Fitness Company run by former Royal Marine Tom Alden has witnessed massive growth over the past 12 months and due to this TLA is now recruiting for a new member to join this exciting, expanding and refreshingly different company!

As a TLA Fitness Instructor, you will possess the drive, determination, tenacity and above all the passion to train and motivate each and every client into achieving their fitness and weight loss goals.  You will be working with a wide variety of clients from businessmen and women looking inject some escapism into their hectic schedules, to professional athletes and  ‘fitness junkies’!  With ages ranging from 16-60 and up, no two sessions will ever be the same!

Initially working as an Instructor on TLA’s increasingly popular ‘Get Fit Outdoors’ circuits and classes, you will be required to work between 2 & 5 sessions a week on a monthly basis.  These will usually fall between 06:30am-8pm Monday-Friday and between 9-11am on weekends.

To apply you will need to be REPS level 2/3 accredited/qualified and have had experience of both 1-2-1 and private group training.  Be approachable and most of all, know how to make your classes FUN!
